Doctoral Candidate in Bioelectronic Tools for Cancer Screening
Join an EU-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie network to develop advanced screening technologies for early cancer detection.
Best for:Best for master's graduates in biotechnology, analytical chemistry, or related fields with a strong background in molecular diagnostics and sensor technologies.
Overview
This doctoral candidate position is part of the Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network titled "STRIM: Scientific Training for Post-Translational Modification Detection in Cancer Screening," hosted through Aarhus University and the Danish Cancer Society in Copenhagen. The appointed researcher will work on multi-disciplinary science involving bioelectronic tools, nanobiotechnologies, and assays for detecting aberrant post-translational modifications of proteins and nucleic acids. The project aims to improve early cancer detection rates by combining electrochemiluminescence, aptamer microarrays, and micro-structured electrodes. The successful candidate is expected to participate in network-wide training, engage in cross-sectoral secondments, and complete a rigorous PhD research program.
What you'll do
- Conduct independent doctoral research focused on developing ultra-sensitive detection methods for post-translational modification biomarkers.
- Design and optimize bioelectronic assay formats utilizing electrochemiluminescence, aptamers, DNA microarrays, and conducting polymer micro-structured electrodes.
- Collaborate with international network partners across academic and industrial sectors to translate screening technologies.
- Participate in mandatory network training events, workshops, and secondments designed to build multidisciplinary and entrepreneurial skills.
- Prepare scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at international conferences.
- Contribute to regulatory, health technology assessment, and social acceptability evaluations related to newly developed diagnostic tools.
