Research Fellow in Cancer Pathology
Join the Michigan Center for Translational Pathology to drive cutting-edge cancer biomarker and therapeutic research.
Best for:Best for recent PhD or MD graduates with a background in pathology, molecular biology, or biochemistry seeking specialized cancer research experience.
Overview
The University of Michigan's Medical School seeks a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Michigan Center for Translational Pathology (MCTP). Working within an interdisciplinary team, the fellow will conduct advanced molecular assays, analyze tumor microenvironments, and evaluate novel cancer therapeutics. Responsibilities include executing immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization assays, performing digital image analysis, and assisting with clinical biospecimen harvesting. The ideal candidate will leverage prior graduate training in pathology, biochemistry, or related fields to advance personalized medicine.
What you'll do
- Perform complex molecular assays including immunohistochemistry (IHC), RNA in situ hybridization, and fluorescent in situ hybridization on human and murine samples.
- Conduct detailed morphological analysis on tissues to understand the tumor microenvironment and evaluate developing therapeutics.
- Utilize digital software to analyze multiplex immunofluorescence images and manually score single-plex IHC samples for protein quantification.
- Capture high-quality images using brightfield and immunofluorescence microscopy for research presentations and publications.
- Oversee assay optimization and routine workflows on Ventana platforms while guiding the histology core team.
- Participate in collaborative biospecimen harvesting from Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer patients as part of the rapid autopsy program.
