PhD Position in AI-Driven Multimodal Biomaterials Analysis
Develop AI-driven predictive models for biomaterials and regenerative tissues using advanced imaging and machine learning.
Best for:Best for interdisciplinary researchers with a background in biomaterials, biomedical engineering, or computer science, passionate about integrating AI and advanced imaging techniques to solve challenges in regenerative medicine.
Overview
This PhD position at the University of Oslo focuses on advancing AI-driven multimodal analysis and predictive modelling of biomaterials, tissues, and regenerative constructs. The candidate will work at the Oral Research Laboratory, combining advanced 2D and 3D bioimaging (micro/nanoCT, confocal microscopy, SEM) with computational image analysis, computer vision, and machine learning. The project aims to standardize methods linking structural, mechanical, and biological properties to biomaterial performance and tissue reconstruction, with a strong emphasis on regenerative medicine and dental applications. The successful applicant will receive interdisciplinary training and contribute to three scientific papers and a doctoral thesis within a fully funded three-year fellowship.
What you'll do
- Perform quantitative 2D and 3D analysis of biological tissues and biomaterials using advanced imaging techniques such as micro/nanoCT, confocal microscopy, and SEM.
- Characterize fibrous scaffold architecture, porosity, and structural stability of biomaterials.
- Develop and apply computer vision and machine learning methods for analyzing multimodal bioimaging datasets.
- Build AI models to predict cell and exosome distribution in regenerative biomaterials.
- Contribute to the development of standardized methods linking structural, mechanical, and biological properties to biomaterial performance.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance research in regenerative medicine and dental applications.
- Present research findings at conferences and publish results in scientific journals.
