Research Associate in Targeted Radionuclide Therapy
Develop novel radiomedicines using peptide display technologies for cancer treatment in the Lovell Lab at the University of Bath.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with expertise in peptide display technologies, solid-phase peptide synthesis, and HPLC/LC-MS method development, seeking to contribute to cutting-edge cancer treatment research.
Overview
This 12-month Research Associate position in the Lovell Lab at the University of Bath focuses on advancing targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) for cancer treatment. The role involves identifying selective peptide binders for proteins, cells, or tissues using cutting-edge peptide display technologies, such as phage or mRNA display, and integrating techniques like automated solid-phase peptide synthesis, chemical proteomics, and structural biology. The successful candidate will contribute to hit-to-lead optimisation programmes to develop innovative radiomedicines, combining interdisciplinary expertise in chemistry, chemical biology, and biomedical research. The position offers hands-on laboratory experience and potential for mentorship of junior lab members, making it ideal for postdoctoral researchers with a strong background in peptide drug discovery and cancer research.
What you'll do
- Identify selective peptide binders for proteins, cells, or tissues using state-of-the-art peptide display technologies (e.g., phage or mRNA display).
- Develop and optimise automated solid-phase peptide synthesis workflows for drug discovery applications.
- Conduct chemical proteomics and structural biology experiments to characterise peptide binders.
- Integrate direct-to-biology workflows to accelerate hit-to-lead optimisation for novel radiomedicines.
- Supervise and train junior lab members, contributing to laboratory management responsibilities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance targeted radionuclide therapy for cancer treatment.
- Develop and validate HPLC, LC-MS, or LC-MS/MS methods for peptide analysis.
- Publish findings in high-impact scientific journals and present research at conferences.
