Master of Science in Sustainable Forest and Nature Management (SUFONAMA)
A joint international master’s programme in sustainable forest and nature resource management across five European universities.
Best for:Best for graduates in biology, geography, forestry, or related fields seeking a cross-disciplinary master’s degree with international exposure and career paths in sustainable resource management, research, or environmental policy.
Overview
The SUFONAMA programme is a two-year international master’s degree in Sustainable Forest and Nature Management, designed to address global challenges in natural resource sustainability. Students study at two partner universities: the first year at the University of Copenhagen, followed by a specialised second year at one of four institutions (Bangor University, University of Göttingen, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, or University of Padova). The curriculum blends theoretical foundations with hands-on international projects, preparing graduates for careers in research, policy, NGOs, or fieldwork. Mobility between institutions is mandatory, ensuring a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary learning experience. The programme emphasises practical skills, international collaboration, and adaptability in managing complex environmental and resource challenges.

- Participate in joint international projects, such as the Joint Summer Module, where students collaborate across universities on real-world forestry challenges.
