Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantum Computing Middleware and Applications
Join a leading quantum computing research group to develop middleware and applications for superconducting quantum computers.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with a PhD in quantum computing or computer science, strong programming skills in quantum frameworks like Qiskit or Cirq, and experience in empirical research methodologies.
Overview
This postdoctoral position at the University of Helsinki focuses on advancing quantum computing middleware and applications within the UnloQ project. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of researchers to optimize quantum circuits, refine error correction techniques, and explore practical applications using both local superconducting quantum computers and national supercomputing resources. The role involves hands-on coding, experimental execution, data analysis, and publication of findings. Supervision of master’s and doctoral students is also part of the responsibilities. The position is fixed-term for 2 years with a possible extension, offering a dynamic environment at a prestigious institution.
What you'll do
- Develop and implement quantum algorithms and techniques for circuit optimization and error correction using Qiskit, Cirq, or similar frameworks.
- Conduct experiments on superconducting quantum computers with up to 50 qubits and upcoming 300-qubit systems, analyzing results rigorously.
- Document research findings in scientific papers and collaborate with industry partners to bridge quantum technology gaps.
- Supervise master’s and doctoral students, guiding their research and development within the quantum computing domain.
- Contribute to the UnloQ project by advancing quantum computing middleware and applications for industrial use.
- Participate in team discussions and meetings to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing.
