Quantum metrology of electrical quantities
Pursue a 4-year PhD fellowship in quantum metrology of electrical quantities at Czech Technical University in Prague.
Best for:Best for master's graduates in physics or electrical engineering with a strong background in measurement technology and quantum metrology.
Overview
The Czech Technical University in Prague invites applications for a 48-month PhD fellowship through the PICTUS programme within the Department of Measurement. The successful candidate will focus on quantum metrology of electrical quantities, aiming to close the metrological triangle and develop portable electrical standards. The research encompasses areas such as quantum Hall impedance standards, measurement automation, uncertainty modeling, FEM simulations, and digital impedance bridges. The selected student will conduct research, complete doctoral coursework, and participate in secondments with partner institutions.
What you'll do
- Develop and investigate quantum Hall impedance standards and digital impedance bridges
- Perform measurement optimization and automation for electrical metrology
- Identify and model sources of measurement uncertainty
- Conduct finite element method (FEM) simulations and parameter optimization for impedance standards
- Collaborate with partner institutions during secondment periods
- Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations
- Complete coursework and progress milestones required by the PhD programme
