PhD Position in Auditory Neuroscience (EEG/MEG)
Explore brain connectivity and auditory scene processing using MEG and SEEG data in an ERC Synergy project.
Best for:Best for neuroscientists or cognitive scientists with expertise in electrophysiology, signal processing, and Python programming, interested in auditory perception and brain connectivity.
Overview
This PhD position at the Institut de Neurosciences de la Timone (Marseille, France) focuses on decoding how brain regions interact to analyze and interpret real-world auditory scenes. Within the ERC Synergy project NASCE, the successful candidate will investigate neural dynamics using magnetoencephalography (MEG) and stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG). The work involves preprocessing and analyzing brain signal data, developing multivariate connectivity analyses, and collaborating with European partners. The PhD will be embedded in a multidisciplinary team studying auditory perception, computational modeling, and neuroscience, with regular exchanges with Maastricht University.
What you'll do
- Preprocess and quality-check MEG and SEEG brain signal data.
- Analyze temporal and frequency dynamics of auditory scene representations.
- Develop and implement multivariate connectivity analyses to characterize brain interactions.
- Create reusable Python analysis pipelines with validation and statistical testing.
- Collaborate on MEG experiment preparation and data acquisition.
- Contribute to scientific articles and conference presentations.
