Overview

The Integrated Design Research MA is offered by the Köln International School of Design at Technische Hochschule Köln. It is a four‑semester, full‑time programme taught entirely in English and begins each winter semester. Students explore research‑through‑design within four thematic clusters, develop self‑initiated projects, and produce a master’s thesis that combines theory and practice. The programme emphasizes critical comparison of design with other approaches, collaboration with external partners, and intercultural perspectives. Applicants are expected to submit a design portfolio and demonstrate a strong interest in interdisciplinary design research.
