PhD Position on the Ribosome Epitranscriptome in Arabidopsis thaliana
Investigate ribosome epitranscriptomics and translational regulation in Arabidopsis thaliana.
Best for:Best for master's graduates in molecular biology or biochemistry with strong nucleic acid manipulation skills.
Overview
This PhD position at the University of Perpignan Via-Domitia focuses on characterizing the mechanisms controlling 2'-O-methylation and RNA modifications in plant ribosomes. The project examines how abiotic stresses and plant development influence ribosomal RNA modifications to generate specialized ribosomes. The successful candidate will conduct wet-lab research utilizing molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and RNA sequence analysis. The work aims to deepen our understanding of plant cellular stress responses and translation control.
What you'll do
- Perform genetic, biochemical, and molecular biology experiments to study ribosome modifications.
- Investigate RNA methyltransferase activity and 2'-O-methylation mechanisms in plant models.
- Analyze RNA and protein sequences alongside epitranscriptomic modification datasets.
- Utilize confocal microscopy techniques to examine cellular localization and phenotypes.
- Examine the coordination between different ribosomal RNA modifications during development and abiotic stress.
