PhD in Trustworthy LLM-Enabled Ecosystems: Requirements and Architecture
Explore how to design trustworthy LLM-powered systems by translating stakeholder trust concerns into actionable requirements and architectural decisions.
Best for:Best for researchers with a master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields, passionate about requirements engineering, software architecture, and trustworthy AI, with an interest in empirical and interdisciplinary work.
Overview
This PhD position at Eindhoven University of Technology focuses on bridging the gap between trustworthy AI principles and practical system design. You will investigate how organizations and individuals perceive trust in LLM-enabled ecosystems, translating these perceptions into concrete requirements and architectural frameworks. The research will be empirically driven, involving stakeholder interviews, workshops, and case studies within the LLM4LM project—a collaboration between TU/e, TNO, and industry partners. Your work will contribute to developing methods, models, and reference architectures that help architects and stakeholders make informed decisions about openness, automation, and accountability in LLM systems. The project offers interdisciplinary collaboration and real-world industry exposure.
What you'll do
- Conduct empirical research to understand how stakeholders perceive trust in LLM-enabled systems and translate these perceptions into concrete requirements.
- Develop and evaluate methods, models, and architectural patterns for identifying trustworthiness requirements and making informed architectural decisions.
- Collaborate with academic and industry partners to study real-world AI adoption and architectural decision-making in logistics and regulatory compliance contexts.
- Design and implement case studies or workshops to gather data and validate research findings.
- Contribute to ongoing research within the LLM4LM project while shaping your own research trajectory.
- Engage in teaching activities, including coaching students and developing teaching skills, as part of your PhD responsibilities.
- Present research findings at conferences and publish in top-tier academic journals.
