PhD Studentship: Richard Elphick Studentship in Modelling Progression Risks in Barrett's Oesophagus
Join a pioneering research project on cancer risk modeling.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong background in oncology and quantitative research methods.
Overview
The Richard Elphick Studentship offers a fully funded PhD opportunity at Trinity College, University of Cambridge, focusing on the modeling of progression risks in Barrett's oesophagus. The successful candidate will collaborate with renowned supervisors, Professor Rebecca Fitzgerald and Professor Nora Pashayan, to develop a Markov multistate model using large datasets. This research aims to enhance early detection of oesophageal cancer and personalize surveillance strategies. Candidates will engage in innovative microsimulation studies and contribute to the development of clinical decision-support tools.
What you'll do
- Conduct research on the progression risks associated with Barrett's oesophagus.
- Develop a Markov multistate model to estimate cancer transition risks.
- Analyze large multicentre datasets to inform risk-based surveillance strategies.
- Collaborate with supervisors and research groups to translate findings into clinical tools.
- Participate in microsimulation studies comparing different surveillance approaches.
