Postdoctoral Research Associate in Nonlinear PDEs
Join the University of Bath to investigate singularity formation and stability in self-gravitating fluids.
Best for:Best for mathematicians with a strong foundation in analysis and nonlinear partial differential equations.
Overview
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath invites applications for an EPSRC-funded Postdoctoral Research Associate in Analysis. Working alongside Dr. Matthew Schrecker, the successful candidate will focus on singularity formation and stability in self-gravitating fluids within the framework of the 'Criticality in Newtonian Gravitational Collapse' grant. The appointee will become a member of the active Analysis Group, participating in weekly seminars, reading groups, and collaborative research initiatives. Additionally, there are optional opportunities to undertake limited teaching responsibilities.
What you'll do
- Conduct original research on singularity formation and stability in self-gravitating fluids.
- Contribute to the scientific objectives of the EPSRC grant 'Criticality in Newtonian Gravitational Collapse.'
- Participate in weekly seminars, reading groups, and graduate courses organized by the Analysis Group.
- Engage in collaborative writing and publication of research findings in peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Undertake professional development activities, aiming for a minimum of 10 days per year.
- Optionally participate in a small amount of departmental teaching as part of professional duties.
