Overview

The Master of Science in Multilingualism at the University of Oslo offers a multidisciplinary approach to studying how linguistic diversity influences cognition, communication, and societal well-being. This two-year programme integrates psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, and applied linguistics to address critical questions about multilingualism—such as how the brain processes multiple languages, how linguistic diversity shapes societal interactions, and how to design inclusive policies for education, healthcare, and technology. Students engage in cutting-edge research using advanced methods like eye-tracking, EEG, and sociolinguistic fieldwork, while also having the flexibility to pursue internships or research abroad. The programme prepares graduates for careers in academia, policy-making, education, or professional roles in NGOs and tech industries, equipping them with skills in research design, critical analysis, and cross-cultural communication.
