PhD Position in Human Neural Stem Cell Lineages
Investigate human neocortex development and neural stem cell fate decisions using advanced live-imaging and single-cell transcriptomics.
Best for:Best for candidates with a background in cell or developmental biology and experience in microscopy and cell culture.
Overview
The Baffet Lab at the Institut Curie is seeking a motivated PhD student to study the mechanisms of human neocortex development. This project focuses on understanding how radial glial cells generate neuronal and glial diversity across different cortical regions. The successful candidate will utilize human fetal tissue and regionalized cortical organoids, employing a live/fixed correlative imaging pipeline and Live-seq technology. The research aims to map spatiotemporal neural stem cell lineages and identify the molecular determinants of fate specification. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge developmental biology research within an ERC-funded project.
What you'll do
- Conduct research on human neural stem cell lineages using fetal tissue and cortical organoids.
- Perform live/fixed correlative imaging to observe radial glial cell divisions.
- Quantify proliferative, neurogenic, and gliogenic division modes across space and time.
- Integrate single-cell transcriptomics with lineage analysis to identify molecular signatures of fate decisions.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain and develop imaging pipelines.
- Communicate research findings through presentations and scientific publications.
